Fall Fashion: 5 days of Love Notions Makes

Oregon finally feels like fall which means my fall sewjo is here! I'm celebrating with 5 Love Notions fall makes this week just in time for the 40% off site wide (excluding Arlington) sale. Each day this week I'll have a new make to share. While I'll be showing you how I used these patterns to be fall friendly, I'll share the versatility of each pattern too.

Day 1: Laundry Day Tee AKA the LDT

First up, it's a freebie! The LDT is one of the most versatile patterns offered from Love Notions. It's also free with the code found in the Facebook Group. While I've made the LDT several times in the past, this is the first time I've made it in a sweater knit. The sweater knit provides a warmer piece. I've styled it with boots but I know I'll wear it with flats and leggings often too.

Pattern Details

The LDT was updated in June 2020 to extend the sizing from XS-5X along with some fit changes. The pattern is a swing style drafted for knit fabric only. It includes 5 sleeve options: sleeveless, short, elbow, 3/4 and long. Hem lengths of top, tunic and dress lengths with high/low cutlines for the tunic and dress lengths. Necklines include scoop, v-neck and cowl. It also includes A0 and projector files.

Fabric

What makes this make for fall? It's the fabric! I used a red buffalo plaid hacci sweater knit from Mily Mae Fabrics. This fabric I bought a couple years ago and had just over a yard scrap left. I was determined to make it work as it's one of my favorite designs. Keep in mind, if you are using a sweater knit, all sweater knits are not the same. Hacci is particularly great since it has stretch, decent recovery and is moderately stable. Quite a few sweater knits don't have the recovery needed for a dress which would make it stretch as you wear it.

Fit

In regards to fit, I measure between a Small and Medium. Normally I'd size down as I prefer a slimmer fit. Based on this fabric though, I went with the size Medium.

Options

This make is the dress length, short sleeves and scoop neckline. I used the projector file to cut.

Modifications

I did no modifications to the pattern.

Would I make any changes next time?

Yes, I'd pick a fabric that I had enough fabric to make an elbow or long sleeve. Otherwise I don't think any other modifications are needed.
