Looking for a maxi skirt? This is THE one you want! The newest Sinclair Patterns release is the Mia, a midi or maxi length skirt. 

This skirt can be made with a regular or side pleated waistband and closed or side seam slits. As with all Sinclair Patterns, it's available in petite, regular and tall heights predrafted. What this means is the majority of people don't need to make height adjustments!

My version of Mia is with all the bells and whistles. I used the pleat waistband accent and side slits. The pleat waistband has pleats on the front panel only and to one side creating visual interest to the waist. I chose to use main main rayon spandex for the outer layer and a Cotton Lycra for the waistband lining for extra support. 

The side seam slits can provide drama, airflow and help if you have a longer stride. Mia isn't narrow at the ankles but I've found other maxi skirts to limit my movement.

This skirt is all about the fabric choice. I love the drama and fun appearance of my Mia in this yellow polka dot. The fabric is rather light though and shows off everything. It's definitely light and perfect for summer. 

My sizing with Sinclair is consistent with Mia being no different. Since this is a skirt, I cut out a size 8 waistband and graded from my waist of a size 8 to a size 6 hip for the skirt pieces. I'm 5'5" tall and sewed the regular height file. 

I've paired my Mia with different tops for two very differing looks. My first look is with my new Gaia top that I blogged about here. This makes a more casual appearance with the back tie and athletic fabric.

My other look is with a slim tee made out of black bamboo. The fabric and color create more drama with the form fit showing all of my curves. I have to say, this is my favorite look!
