I've had a vision for this dress before I even knew this pattern was coming. Then the pattern test for the Zoe from Sinclair came out and this dress came to life!

The Zoe is a dolman style top and dress. It can be made as a simple top or with a drawstring waist casing as a top or dress. It features rolled cuffs and a wider scoop neckline. Plus there's optional inseam pockets for the dress length.

The sleeves are finished with a rolled cuff. I particularly liked the technique for stitching the the cuffs to the dress that was the most effective way I've found to keep rolled cuffs from flipping.

The drawstring casing was another technique that was done differently than I've tried before. You construct the bodice and the skirt separately then add the casing between. It's flipped down and top stitched in place. I was fortunate that my stripes ended up lining up well at the waistline and my casing fabric blended nicely.

I can't leave out my favorite part... Pockets! The dress version of the Zoe has optional inseam pockets. These pockets are stitched to the side and the waistline and come out perfectly. I chose to use a cotton lycra for the pockets so they didn't have any extra bulk from French Terry. I'm beyond happy with the size and fit of these pockets.

So basically this is my perfect mom-on-the-go outfit. I can wear it with sneakers or heels and it works for both.

This fabric I've been holding onto for a while. I ordered EVERY color way from Mily Mae Fabrics because it's just amazing. This is the black and ivory color way but what I really like is that's it a black color with some heathering  It's a brushed French Terry with the wrong side being the brushed side. What that means is that this is unbelievably soft against my skin. The coordinate I used is the sold out Raven which is a faux leather French Terry.

One thing to note is that this is the first tester version of the Zoe. I made this and then went on vacation so wasn't able to sew the final version. The final version had some minimal changes. You will see the final version is a bit shorter, a tiny bit narrower along the hips, the neckline is scooped ever so slightly more and the casing was raised about 1". Both versions are amazing. I can't wait to sew up the final version to compare.

Zoe is on sale through July 21st, 2019 for $7.99 with no code needed.
